Over the years, I have had many people ask me if I teach silversmithing and jewelry making classes in Minnesota. I am so proud to be able to bring my experience and Girl Meets Joy Jewelry to the Veberöd Gem Gallery classroom. I teach quality silversmithing classes to people who want to learn how to move metal and make jewelry. All of my classes are currently being taught at the Veberöd Gem Gallery classroom in Minnetonka, MN, which is just a short drive out of Minneapolis.
If you have ever wanted to learn the art of jewelry making, this is definitely the place for you. I am here to help you every step of the way. The classroom is perfect! I teach you the way that I was taught, which would be considered "old school" with very few shortcuts. You get a solid base of skills that will give you the confidence and ability to try new techniques and grow as a jewelry artist. If you are one of my students, you can reach me via email or text message with any questions. In addition to classes, for our students we offer Open Studio sessions on Fridays so you can continue to practice and work on your projects. It's great to have the comfort of knowing someone is there to help you over any hurdles you might experience or get a little guidance with where you should start. Students can also participate on the VeberodStudentArtisans Facebook group. We announce most of the new classes here first!
The class that everyone starts with is Silversmithing 1. From there, you progress to Silversmithing 2, and then Silversmithing 3. After these basic level classes are completed, you are free to sign up for the more advanced courses where new skills are developed and your basic skills perfected. The week night classes are typically split between two evenings and there is also one full day class on Saturdays. There are options for everyone. We also have Open Studio sessions on Wednesday evenings for students who are, or have been, enrolled in my classes. Please visit www.vgems.net for a list of current courses and class pricing. If you need more information, please call Veberöd Gem Gallery at 952-595-8338.
*** Please note that while the store is no longer requiring proof of vaccination, if you are feeling ill please be considerate and reschedule your class for another date. In the shop and classroom, wearing your mask is not currently required, however, this is subject to change given the levels of infection in any area of the metro. You may wear your mask if you like and there are times I may be wearing my mask. Thank you in advance for your understanding and I look forward to seeing you in class soon!

This is where we all start in this craft. In this class you will learn how to use hammers to create textures, the jeweler's saw to cut out your designs, files to perfect the shape of your piece, be introduced to the torch, and finally setting your first stone on a silver pendant.
In this class, it's all about learning the torch and pick soldering. You learn to wrap your wire into jumprings, further practice your sawing skills cutting your links, and then soldering those little rings into a beautiful chain. There are a lot of tips and tricks covered in this class.
This is the class where we use all the skills you've learned to create a finished ring. You will fabricate and solder your own bezel setting for a larger, irregular shaped stone, create your first ring shank, and finally set your stone. You get to use your creativity in this class!
